About the register

Condemned is not deleted

A world is condemned when a closing order is made against it, following an inspection that finds one or more Category 1 hazards. A closing order prohibits occupation. It does not demolish anything, and we have no power to. The world stays where it is, with a notice at the spawn point that cannot be moved.

All case files are public. Owners' names are withheld. The names of the worlds are not, the owners having chosen them.

Case 2019-0007 · Falling on stairs

The Infinite Staircase

A spiral staircase of 1,400 steps with no landing and no guard. The inspector reached step 912, at which point the hazard was considered established. The order applies from step 913 upward. The lower flight remains open, with a sign.

Case 2021-1188 · Crowding and space

Club Liminal

Advertised as a nightclub for eighty. Found to be one room of eighty seats, none collided, all facing a blank wall. The owner's statement that the wall is the DJ has been placed on file.

Case 2022-0410 · Collision and entrapment

Grandma's House (Cozy)

The front door opens onto the back door. The back door opens onto the front door. Occupants attempting to leave by either arrive, after some time, in the kitchen.

Case 2023-2231 · Falling between levels

Stairway to the Ocean

The staircase climbs a rock and stops. The handrail continues alone for forty metres. The rock has no collider. The handrail was found compliant and is excluded from the order.

Looking straight up the stone facade of a tall office tower against a blue sky.
Case 2024-0666 · Structural collapse

The Tower

Forty storeys from the street; two inside. The remaining thirty-eight are a texture of storeys. The order covers floors 3 to 40, which the owner states do not exist and so cannot be occupied. The order notes that this is correct.

An unfinished concrete block wall with a long crack, standing on rubble.
Case 2025-0031 · Regularisation refused

Bob's Bunker

Under construction since 2020, without a permit. A regularisation certificate was applied for in 2025 and refused, the works not being complete enough to regularise. The owner has been asked to finish it, so that it can be refused properly.

A crack running down a low brick retaining wall beside a paved path.
Case 2025-1902 · Falling on level surfaces

Café Loose Tile

The crack in the retaining wall is a texture. The crack in the floor beside it is also a texture, laid over no floor at all. It came to light during the inspection of a neighbouring world, which was found to be underneath it.

Notices and orders

What we can and cannot do

Improvement notice

Requires stated works within a stated period, usually 28 days. The world stays open. Most owners spend the 28 days on the appeal.

Prohibition order

Closes the part of a world that is the problem, usually the stairs. The rest of the world remains open, and is reached by the stairs.

Closing order

Closes the whole world to occupation. Nothing is demolished. The owner may enter, alone, to carry out works, and is encouraged to.

Regularisation certificate

For work done without a permit. Issued once the work has been inspected and found compliant, which usually means taking it apart to look, and then putting it back.
